In a forgotten part of Yeongcheon, South Korea, two tiny puppies were found curled tightly against each other, as if staying close was the only comfort they had left.
They were hidden from view, easy to miss unless someone looked carefully. And when rescuers finally reached them, the sight was heartbreaking.
The puppies were painfully thin.
Their bodies were so weak they barely reacted.
One had inflamed, damaged skin that had clearly gone untreated for far too long. The other had a swollen belly, a sign that parasites had taken hold of a body already far too fragile. Hunger had drained nearly all of their energy, leaving them still and silent in a place where they could easily have disappeared unnoticed.

Everything was done with patience, because bodies this weak cannot be rushed back to health.
And with each feeding, each warm blanket, each quiet hour of care, something began to change.
They were still fragile.
But now they had a chance.
As the puppies slowly stabilized, one question stayed in the minds of the rescue team:
Where were their parents?
The search did not take long to lead them to the mother dog.
She was nearby, thin and visibly worn down, yet there was something unexpectedly soft about her. Despite everything she had likely been through, she did not run. She stood still, almost as if she understood that help had finally reached her too.
